I have to admit, at first and before the ordering, I was a little skeptical about the quality of your beef as I had been eating japanese kobe in Asia for many years including the Matsuzaka beef. Sometimes when you order products online you take a leap of faith. However, as soon as I talked to you and you offered to give me a tour of your production plant, I was comforted that this is a quality operation. As for the beef, it was amazing. Even though you recommended the lower cost cuts for Shabu Shabu, I decided on the rib eye. 6. 1-800-kobebeef.com, Many thanks for the excellent Japanese Kobe filets. They arrived beautifully and we enjoyed them over the weekend for an incredible birthday dinner. They were grilled simply with some kosher salt and fresh ground pepper and kept on the rare - medium rare side with a nice sear on the outside. They were incomparable to anything we have ever had before. Definitely worth the splurge! We will be be sure to order again. We are spoiled by the best now! The rest seared, lightly oak smoked and served against American Wagyu tenderloin. The AW didn’t even come close to the quality of the Japanese Wagyu. I also purchased Blue Fin Tuna “Toro” for sashimi. The Wasabi root was a unique experience that blew away the real Wasabi paste from Oregon. As I watched, the root quickly disappeared because it was a grate-your-own presentation and people took full advantage. Vintage Champagnes and wines from my cellar pulled it together. 9. "Wonderful meal last night. Bruce says it rivaled anything he's had at Takao (Our gold standard for Kobe). Anshu, you were absolutely correct, this is truly a melt in the mouth experience. One thing (for other at-home chefs): If you are cooking in an open grill pan over gas flame, there is so much fat it will probably ignite (mine did)...just a little drama to go with the experience of a perfect steak. 10. "Anshu, Absolutely Impressed. I had a true, real Kobe-beef first time in US. I now realize how my paid price meant to me. I think beef of this quality could have been sold in Japan over $50/100 gram, which is $over 200/ lbs. This was cooked very good with Bincho-Tan, a special charcoal produced in Japan for a barbeque. This charcoal, produced certain part of western Japan, is very hard and its heat lasts very long. their strong heat allows unnecessary fat to be removed from the beef, dripped down to charcoal, and burn. 11. I'd be happy to write a few lines.... My wife and I never had steaks like the Japanese Kobe. I've had Kobe in restaurants many times, but rarely did they get close the quality of the steaks you sent to us. Upon opening the packing, we noticed a clean and slightly sweet aroma. The white translucent marbling that spanned the entire cut almost looked like a fine mesh webbing. I cooked them on cast iron, with a little sea salt, and fresh pepper. One minute on each side over a medium heat. As I've heard it described before, the steaks tasted like beef flavored butter. Very rich, and viscous, each bite melting on the palette. In short, we loved it. The steaks were very rich, so much so we didn't need a desert to finish the meal. On another note, I appreciated how well the cut was butchered. The steaks were ready to cook right out of the packing. The meat was well packed and cold, making the shipping of fresh meat a non-issue. Thanks - we'll be ordering from 1-800-KobeBeef.COM regularly.
